The Wrecking Two are an electric guitar duo, who have teamed up after many years of professional band work, playing a variety of different genres, to sing and play mainly “old school” Rock ‘n’ Roll, but not exclusively. Dan and Phil have extensive experience of playing in bands, clubs, pubs, shows and theatres. They have both played in a number of bands across the country.
Guitarist Dan has played with many well known musicians including Chuck Berry, Marty Wilde and Bert Weedon. In addition to his professional band work, Dan played in a number of West End shows including Oliver, Escape From The Forbidden Planet, Riverdance, Starlight Express and at the London Palladium for the Country and Western Show featuring Buck Owens. Dan grew up in a musical family where he learned to play guitar from an early age. He was chosen to play in the National Youth Jazz Orchestra and the Crescendo Big Band which gave him the platform to play guitar professionally.
Singer and guitarist Phil learned his trade in the East Midlands, playing in various bands on the social club circuit up and down the M1 corridor. He learned to play a number of musical instruments but preferred to play guitar and sing in the clubs; mainly at weekends in the many miners’ welfare clubs and halls during the 70’s. On moving south in the 80’s, he continued to sing and play guitar for a number of bands on the pub and club circuit before joining Dan in a duo.
The Wrecking Two got together a few years ago, initially to simply showcase the guitar by playing mainly instrumentals from all the decades since the War. They then rehearsed to sing and play a completely new list of songs, mainly 50’s rock ‘n’ roll covers, but not exclusively. In addition to well known numbers, they also cover some of the more obscure numbers though most of the songs will be easily recognised. In addition to rockabilly, jive, bop and strollers, the Wrecking Two also sing and play ballads so catering for a full range of audience.
To date the Wrecking Two have played in a number of clubs and events in Surrey and Hampshire but are now looking to increase their social club bookings further afield and to also include corporate entertainment, parties, themed events and pubs.
